Here’s another of the images from my Good Friday photo-shoot — one of a number of ‘detail shots’ I took around a new structure on the Wellington waterfront; modelled on a wharenui (Māori meeting house), it features dramatic geometric stylizations of traditional Māori decoration.

__________
Up where the smoke is all billered and curled,
‘Tween pavement and stars, is the chimney sweep world.
When there’s hardly no day nor hardly no night,
there’s things half in shadow and halfway in light,
On the rooftops of London, coo, what a sight!

Song: “Chim chim cher-ee”, in “Mary Poppins” by Walt Disney; music and lyrics by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman
